WHAT TO EXPECT

Welcome to Calvary! Visiting a church can be a little akward and possibly scary. So, we hope this intro will help you feel relaxed and at home. The Apostle Paul says in the New Testament, "But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14)." The name of our church reflects that desire to make much of the name of Jesus. The "main event" at Calvary where we make much of Him is our weekly Sunday morning worship service.

WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ARE HERE?

  • At Calvary you will find people from Burlington, Sedro-Wooley, Mt. Vernon, Alger, and even from Anacortes. So, you could say that people come from all directions to come to Calvary. You will meet grandmas and grandpas, moms and dads, singles, students and children.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

  • Please, come as you are. Some wear suit and tie, some jeans, and others, shorts, t-shirts.

WHAT IS THE SERVICE LIKE?
  • In the worship service God speaks to us and we respond. You could call it a dialogue between God and His people. We sing songs (hymns and spiritual songs), read scripture, pray, listen to God's Word preached, greet one another, give offerings, baptize new believers in Jesus, and partake the Lord's Supper on the first of each month. We truly believe that God is still speaking today, and the primary way that He speaks is through the preaching of His Word, the Bible.

HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?
  • The service is around 80 minutes long, sometimes longer for baptisms or the Lord's Supper.

WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN?
  • Worship is a gathering of God's family in celebration. Chidlren of all ages are welcomed and encouraged to be with the family of God at any time through the service. We rejoice in seeing kids and even hearing the sounds of  babies. For your convenience we do have a nursery and toddler room.
